Organizers of protests in Ingushetia consider activists' persecutions inevitable
None of the organizers and participants of the mass protest in Magas has been detained, but the authorities will react to the rally with persecutions of activists, the protest leaders are sure. The demand for the resignation of Yunus-Bek Evkurov became the most popular among the protesters, they have stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 26, the rally against the law on referendum, organized by the public movement "Support of Ingushetia", turned into a rally demanding the resignation of the republic's head. At night and in the morning, law enforcers made three attempts to disperse the protesters, but every time they retreated under the onslaught of the crowd; it follows from the video records posted by eyewitnesses. When the authorities promised to sanction a new rally, activists left the square, but later hundreds of them gathered at the entrance to Nazran and blocked the "Kavkaz" Federal Highway.
Activists are not detained yet, because of the promised new action, and no administrative protocols are compiled, but this is temporary, believes Ruslan Mutsolgov, the head of regional branch of the "Yabloko" Party. "I suppose they're ahead," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
A similar opinion was expressed by Malsag Uzhakhov, the chairman of the Council of Teips, who told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent: "Both detentions and fines are ahead. This time they couldn't avoid confrontation; law enforcers are very tough; they spoke to us in an ultimatum. They wanted to solve the issue by force anyway."
