Ingush protest leaders left under arrest

The Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia upheld the decision on the administrative arrests of Akhmed Barakhoev and Musa Malsagov, organizers of a rally in Magas.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that three leaders of the protests in Ingushetia ‑ Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, and Barakh Chemurziev were detained after the rally in Magas. Starting from April 3, they are serving 10 days of their administrative arrests in Nalchik. On April 4, Akhmed Barakhoev declared hunger strike demanding a meeting with human rights defenders.

Today, through a video conference with Nalchik, the Ingush SC has started a hearing in the cases against Akhmed Barakhoev and Musa Malsagov. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was not allowed to attend the court hearing, although it was declared open.

The Supreme Court of Ingushetia upheld the decision on the arrests of Akhmed Barakhoev and Musa Malsagov. "After verifying the materials of the cases received and examining the arguments described in the complaints, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Ingushetia did not find any violations of the law entailing the cancellation or amendment of the rulings," reports today the Ingush SC on its website.
