Dagestani activists call on to challenge Chechnya's actions on mutual border

Chechnya has committed a gross violation in fixing the border by accounting the disputable land plot from the Kizlyar District as its territory. This act should be appealed against, the participants of the sitting in Makhachkala have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this January, authorities of Chechnya and Dagestan agreed to define the mutual border. On April 16, after the scandal with the unilateral definition of the border by the Chechen party, the speakers of both parliaments decided to suspend the border demarcation process.

On March 16, Chechnya registered the disputable land plot on the border with the Kizlyar District of Dagestan, near the village of Novomonastyrskoe, as its territory. The Dagestani commission on border demarcation had not visited the village, local residents said.

According to the lawyer, Abas Gaidarov, the Chechnya's one-sided cadastral registration of disputable areas on the border of the two republics is a gross violation of the law. The authorities of Dagestan can challenge these actions of the Chechen party within two months at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
