Soldier wounded in Yerevan military unit

A contract serviceman was taken to a hospital in Armenia with a gunshot wound, the country's Ministry of Defence has reported. Doctors assess his condition as extremely grave.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2018, 38 military servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) perished during their service; 25 other incidents were not related to military service. According to the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia, careless firearm handling led to two deaths; two persons died as a result of violating the rules of combat duty; and 11 soldiers were driven to suicide.

The above latest incident occurred on the territory of a military unit stationed near Yerevan. The soldier could wound himself, the "Sputnik-Armenia" has noted.

As reported by the "News-Armenia", a note was found in a pocket of the 24-year-old soldier.
