Ingush activist Aushev arrested for two months
A court in Kabardino-Balkaria has ruled to imprison Ruslan Aushev, suspected of involvement in clashes with law enforcers at a rally in Magas. While justifying the arrest, investigators presented uncertified copies of documents, but the court ignored this, the advocates Akhmed Kaloev and Magomed Bekov affirm.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 23, in the city of Mineralnye Vody, law enforcers detained the Ingush activist Khasan Katsiev, and another one, Akhmed Nalgiev, in the city of Magas. On the same day, activist Ruslan Aushev was detained. All the three are suspects in the case of clashes with law enforcers at a rally in Magas.
On March 26, in Magas, a rally was held with the demand of the resignation of the Ingush leader. On March 27, an attempt to disperse the protesters resulted in clashes. According to investigators, 10 law enforcers were injured. On April 2, the police started mass detentions of activists.
Ruslan Aushev, arrested on April 24 in Kabardino-Balkaria, is suspected under Part 2, Article 318, of the Russian Criminal Code ("Use of violence dangerous to life or health, against a representative of the authorities"), said Magomed Bekov, an advocate. "The court considered copies of documents from Ingushetia that were not certified. The advocate drew attention to the fact, but the court has ignored that," he has stated.
Mr Bekov has noted that so far, there is no information about two other detainees – Khasan Katsiev and Akhmed Nalgiev, the "MBKh Media" informed.
