Three women-residents of Ingushetia suspected of helping Syrian militants

The investigating authorities of Ingushetia have declared three women-residents of the republic to be accomplices to the militants fighting in Syria. The eldest woman is 27 years old, the youngest one is 19, investigators have reported.

According to law enforcers, three residents of Ingushetia left for Syria in November 2014 and in May 2015. The Russia's FSB (Federal Security Bureau) believes that they are still in the Middle East.

The young women are helping the members of the armed grouping, which has been recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia, investigators believe.

"So far, they have taken no steps to voluntarily cease their participation in an international terrorist organization in the territory of a foreign state," says the statement posted on the website of the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The young women aged 19, 22 and 27 years have become figurants in a criminal case on participation in terrorist activities (Part 2, Article 205.5, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This article envisages from 10 to 20 years of imprisonment.
