Houses and plantations of Eastern Georgia residents flooded

The rivers that have overflowed the banks have flooded several villages in Kakheti, washed away roads and damaged bridges and power lines. Freshly planted agricultural lands were covered with water.

In the Akhmeta District, the Alazani River has overflowed its banks, damaged the motor bridge between the villages of Djokolo and Dumasturi and the pedestrian bridge connecting the villages of Duisi and Khalatsani.

Agricultural lands have been flooded in the municipality, the Georgian Public Broadcaster reports on its website today; the posted video shows a powerful stream of dirty water in the river.

In the Akhmeta district, ground floors of houses and roads in the villages of Babaneuri, Argokhi, Magraani and in the Pankisi Gorge are flooded, Ioseb Karumashvili, the head of the municipality, has stated.

The Stori River, a tributary of Alazani, is out of its banks, flooding several villages in the Telavi Municipality. According to local residents, the river changed its course and approached the houses. Basements of 15 houses have been flooded; rescuers help to pump out water. Power lines are also damaged, the "InterPressNews" has reported.
