Kadyrov's ancestral village renamed to Akhmat-Yurt
At their assembly, residents of the village of Tsentaroi have unanimously voted for renaming the village in honour of Akhmat Kadyrov, the Public Chamber of Chechnya has reported. At the entrance to the village, the name has already been replaced by "Akhmat-Yurt".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chairman (Speaker) of the Chechen Parliament suggested renaming Tsentaroi, the ancestral village of the current head of the republic, to Akhmat-Yurt - in honour of Akhmat Kadyrov, Ramzan's father.
The renaming was done by the decision of the villagers' assembly – of residents of Tsentaroi, where the first Chechen president Akhmat Kadyrov lived and studied, who appealed to the authorities for renaming.
The decision is motivated by the fact that Akhmat Kadyrov "has outstanding merits to the Chechen people" – "it was he who was able to achieve victory over terrorism," the "Interfax" quotes today the message from the Public Chamber of Chechnya.
At the entrance to the village, an arch has been installed bearing the portraits of Akhmat Kadyrov and Vladimir Putin. The name of the village above the arch has already been replaced by "Akhmat-Yurt" – until recently it was "Khosi-Yurt".
