Collective iftars cancelled in Kizilyurt District after CTO

After an armed clash in the village of Sultan-Yangi-Yurt, the authorities and the imams of Kizilyurt and the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan decided to temporarily suspend holding a collective breaking of fasting of believers who observed the month of Ramadan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported that three suspects were killed in a shootout with law enforcers in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan. According to the NAC, the law enforcers engaged in a counterterrorist operation (CTO) were attacked when they were inspecting of a deserted private house in the village of Sultan-Yangi-Yurt. The NAC published a video showing an explosion in the house during its assault by law enforcers and guns found in the ruins of the building.

"The planned collective iftars on the territory of the Kizilyurt District and the city of Kizilyurt will be temporarily postponed because of the tense situation in the republic," reports today the Kizilyurt District administration on its website.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Arzulum Shamkhalov, the head of the Sultan-Yangi-Yurt village, that three men killed today in the village were not local residents. "The CTO took place outside the village. The house was deserted, no one lived in it," Arzulum Shamkhalov said without mentioning the owner of the building.
