Chechen authorities react to removal of republic's signs near Kizlyar in Dagestan
The road signs defining the border of the Shelkovskoy District of Chechnya and the Kizlyar District of Dagestan were demolished by residents of the neighbouring republic arbitrarily, Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, ha stated.
On June 10, a video appeared on the Internet of the demolition of Chechnya's signs in Dagestan. Judging by the video, Dagestanis have removed the road signs reading "Shelkovskoy District" in the outskirt of Kizlyar.
On March 16, 2019, Chechnya unilaterally registered a controversial piece of land on the border with the Kizlyar District of Dagestan as its territory. An official from Ramzan Kadyrov's office explained that the Chechen party had not received any reaction from Dagestan.
A video with Daudov's comments was posted on the YouTube channel named "Chechen Voice". "We won't give away an inch! Signs will be put back, because they must be there," he said.
Let us remind you that this January the authorities of Chechnya and Dagestan agreed on the demarcation of the mutual border. On April 16, after the scandal with the unilateral border definition by Chechnya, it was decided to suspend the submission of the real estate of the border to the Russian State Registry.
