Analysts treat incident with signpost in Kizlyar as provocation
Chechen authorities have announced the settlement of the conflict that broke out on the border with Dagestan, where residents of Kizlyar demolished a signpost with the inscription "Shelkovskoy District". The problem that provoked the incident is beneficial to the Kremlin, human rights defenders believe.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 12, near the Chechen signpost with the inscription of "Shelkovskoy District" of Chechnya near the city of Kizlyar, local residents installed their own road sign.
The resolution of the conflict on the Chechen-Dagestani border was reported by the ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) "Grozny".
The demolition of the road sign almost turned into a mass brawl, residents of the Shelkovskoy district of Chechnya have noted.
The installation of a signpost in the outskirt of Kizlyar was a provocation; there has never been any dispute over this land plot, the Dagestan historian, Zurab Gadjiev, has noted. He treats the installation of the signpost as provocation.
He condemned the actions of the young people who dismantled the sign, but noted that it was installed by the Chechen party without notifying its neighbours.
The incident near Kizlyar is beneficial to the authorities of the Russian Federation, Ruslan Kutaev, the head of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, and Akhmed Gisaev, the head of the Human Rights Analysis Centre, are sure.
In Mr Kutaev's opinion, the acute situation in the Caucasus will be beneficial for the country's authorities in the event of political confrontation in Moscow and other federal cities.
