PACE demanded to reconsider inquiry outcomes into Nemtsov's murder

The Russian investigators' inquiry into the murder of the opposition politician, Boris Nemtsov, was conducted with violations, says the resolution adopted on June 27 by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The Russia's delegation did not participate in the voting and criticized the report presented to the PACE as politicized.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May 2017, the PACE's Legal Committee appointed Emanuelis Zingeris, a member of the Lithuanian delegation, as Special Rapporteur for the murder of Boris Nemtsov.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead in Moscow on February 27, 2015. On July 13, 2017, five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were convicted within the case of his murder. Advocates of his family stated that the crime was not solved, since its organizers and customers are still at large.

The investigation into Boris Nemtsov's murder failed to establish the true crime perpetrators; and the official version, presented in the verdict of the Russian court, is based on serious errors of the investigation and the trial; it fails to match the evidence on most important points, says the resolution "Shedding light on Boris Nemtsov's murder", prepared by Emanuelis Zingeris.

The document calls for a re-investigation into Nemtsov's murder, the "Interfax" has reported.

On June 27, the PACE adopted Mr Zingeris' resolution. It was supported by all the 40 delegates who participated in the voting. In total, there are more than 320 delegates in the PACE. The Russian delegation stated that it did not participate in the voting, since the case was not yet closed, and the resolution was a pressure on investigators.
