Head of Armenian village reports about shelling attacks on houses and fields

Last night, the Azerbaijani armed forces have shelled an Armenian village, and bullets hit roofs of houses, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia reports. According to the head of the rural community, starting from July 11, the Azerbaijani armed forces are shelling the sown fields for a fire to break out there.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported the Ministry of Defence for Nagorno-Karabakh stated that in the period from July 7 to 13, the Azerbaijani armed forces more than 90 times violated the ceasefire regime on the contact line and made about 800 shots.

Last night, the Azerbaijani armed forces have shelled the village of Yelpin in the Vayots Dzor Region of Armenia, reports Artsrun Ovannisyan, the press secretary for the Armenian MoD. According to him, the shelling attacks came to the village from the direction of the Azerbaijani city of Nakhichevan.

The shelling attacks on the village has been coming from the Nakhichevan side for several days already, and Azerbaijani soldiers are mostly shelling the sown fields for a fire to break out, states Khoren Avetisyan, the head of the Yelpin community. According to him, Armenian soldiers together with the local residents extinguished the fire which broke out after the shelling attack on July 11. In the evening on July 13, after the shelling attack, the fire broke out near the wheat field, the head of the rural community noted. "We extinguished the fire on our own. We went by 15 cars, and we were also shelled on the road. The village was shelled on July 14 and 15. And last night, bullets hit the roof of the house on the outskirts of the village," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Khoren Avetisyan, who also added that he had informed the Red Cross about the incident.
