Israeli authorities urge citizens to abandon trips to Chechnya

The Israeli counterterrorism headquarters has assigned the highest level of threat to Chechnya and urged residents of the country to avoid travelling to this republic.

According to the headquarters, Chechnya has been awarded the red hazard level marked "Very High Concrete Threat".

"Given the presence and activities of real terrorist organizations in Chechnya that could harm Israelis, the counterterrorism headquarters recommends that Israeli citizens refrain from visiting Chechnya and the regions of Georgia bordering on Chechnya ... Avoid any visits and immediately leave the territory of [Chechnya]," says the warning, posted on the website of the Israeli state counterterrorism headquarters.

The warning is advisory in nature, whereas the decision to visit and stay abroad is made by each citizen independently, the message explains.
