Georgian villagers complain about implications of demarcation with South Ossetia

On August 7, South-Ossetian militaries established fencing from the side of South Ossetia, having deviated from the administrative border, residents of the village of Gugutiantkari, Gori District of Georgia, have stated. Georgian authorities condemned the works on the border.

In July, the human rights organization Amnesty International (AI) called the bordering as the main factor in anti-Russian protests in Georgia.

If the works continue in the chosen direction, then two or three residential houses of the village will occur in the territory of South Ossetia, and the families living in them will have to decide whether to abandon these houses, David Katsarava, an activist of the "Strength in Unity", has stated. Besides, the agricultural lands used by Gugutiantkari villagers will also occur in South Ossetia.

Tinatin Gugutishvili, a villager, has stated that she is concerned about the fate of her land plot. "Here is my house, which was burned down in 2008," the "InterPressNews" quoted the woman as saying.

Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia, has treated the works at the village as "absolutely unacceptable," the "News-Georgia" reports.

She has added that on the anniversary of the five-day war, such violations "are perceived even more painfully."
