MIA reports abduction of minor bride in Ingushetia

A young man abducted a 13-year-old girl in the city of Nazran aiming to marry her, the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has informed. Law enforcers returned the girl to her parents.

According to the MIA, the girl's abduction was reported in the evening on August 14 by her mother. Law enforcers established that a 19-year-old villager had abducted the minor away in a car with the aim to marry her.

"The whereabouts of the minor girl has been established; she was handed over to her parents," says the today's message posted on the website of the Ingush MIA.

The materials related to the incident have been transferred to investigating authorities. The abductor can be charged under the article of "Abduction", which assumes from 5 to 15 years in prison depending on the article point.

In 2013, at the republic's Islamic Conference, religious figures of Ingushetia decided to increase the fine for bride abduction. Young men abducting girls for marriage should be fined by 200,000 roubles, while their helpers – by 100,000 roubles each.
