Yuri Dud's film about Beslan terror act gains 4 million views over 24 hours

The documentary film "Beslan. Remember" by journalist Yuri Dud in which former hostages and journalists shared their memories about the 2004 terror act aroused considerable interest among YouTube users. They said they watched the three-hour film "in a single burst."

In particular, Diana Murtazova, who was a 9th grade schoolgirl and who stayed in the school building with two sisters, said that on September 3, she was getting out of the school building under fire. A fragment of a shell hit Diana and damaged her spine.

The vast majority of the terrorists who captured the school were natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia, but there were also people of other nationalities among them.

Former hostage Stas Bokoev matured and became a rap performer.

When the school was captured by the terrorists, Fatima Dzgoeva was 10 years old. Her aunt Lana said the girl's injuries were so severe that her relatives doubted whether she would survive. Fatima is undergoing rehabilitation in Germany, and in order to pay for her treatment, the family members have already sold several apartments.

Taimuraz Mamsurov, the former leader of North Ossetia, who held the post of the speaker of the North-Ossetian parliament in 2004, said that his son and daughter were among the hostages.

While making the decision to storm the building, law enforcers were aware that there would be "a lot of casualties," stated Elena Milashina, a correspondent of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta".

The principle of refusing negotiations with terrorists is useful for preventing possible future terror acts, but while declaring such a principle, the state should "do everything to save the hostages," says journalist Olga Allyonova.

On January 8, Yuri Dud posted on YouTube the film "Man After the War" about the First Chechen War and the life of people after it.
