PFPA claims kidnapping of its activist in Baku

On September 10, Ruslan Amirli, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was kidnapped by unidentified people in Baku, the PFPA has stated. According to Nurlan Libre, a freelance journalist, the activist was taken to the 29th station of the Yasamal District Police Department.

Amirli was kidnapped at about 3:30 p.m. near the National Oncology Centre in Baku, where he was going aiming to visit his sister, who is treated there, Gezyal Bairamly, the deputy chairman of the PFPA, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Ms Bairamly, on the eve of kidnapping Amirli received threats "for his anti-state activities."

Ali Kerimli, the PFPA leader, has also confirmed the information about kidnapping. "Some seven-eight people kidnapped him in front of the National Oncology Centre and took him away to some unknown place," Mr Kerimli wrote in his Facebook page.

Nurlan Libre wrote in his Facebook page that Amirli is kept in the 29th station of the Yasamal District Police Department of Baku.
