Children evacuated from Syria handed over to relatives in Dagestan and Volgograd
Three minors evacuated from Syria have returned to their mother in Dagestan; one girl was met by her grandmother from Volgograd.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 20, four children evacuated from Baghdad prison were brought to Grozny. They arrived in Russia by the fourth flight from Iraq starting from December 2018. Therefore, the evacuation of Russian children from Iraq was declared over; and the work was launched to evacuate children from Syria.
Four children, who were kept in camps and prisons in Syria, have flown to Moscow and were sent to the National Medical Research Centre for Children's Health. "Three children are from the same family from Dagestan. Now, they will draw up their documents and birth certificates. They will be handed over to their parents and grandmother; one girl has returned to her grandmother," said Anna Kuznetsova, the Children's Ombudsperson in Russia. She has added that the fourth child will live with her grandmother in Volgograd, the RIA "Novosti" has reported today.
The children born in 2007, 2008 and 2009 have returned to Dagestan. They had been taken to Syria by their father; they were found with their stepmother in one of prisons in Damascus. "For the first time, we bring children to their mother. <...> Today, she saw her children for the first time in several years," said Anna Kuznetsova. The five-year-old granddaughter of the Volgograd's grandmother was kept in Damascus in one of the shelters, according to today's publication on the website of the Children's Ombudsperson.
