Grozny residents report night raids by law enforcers
In the city of Grozny, law enforcers conduct night raids by visiting houses and detain people who seem suspicious to them, resident of the city report. The law enforcement bodies introduced a round-the-clock operation regime on the eve of the New Year holidays, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya explains.
At night, in Grozny, law enforcers patrol streets and yards of apartment buildings and detain people suspected of drinking alcoholic beverages, local residents tell the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"At night, three guys were taken away from a yard of our apartment house. They were sitting on the playground and talking. Several law enforcers in uniform approached them and asked them why they stayed on the street at such a late time. The law enforcers said that the guys 'violated public order' and took them to a police station," said Maret, a woman from Grozny.
Sultan, a resident of Grozny, said that he also found himself in such a situation. "We with my friend stayed on the street at about midnight. He drank a little. Armed law enforcers approached us. They asked us what we were doing on the street at night. Then they said we were drunk and brought us to a police station. The policemen did not set us free until morning," said the man. He emphasized that he did not drink alcoholic beverages at all.
On the eve of the New Year holidays, in Chechnya, the law enforcement bodies have introduced a round-the-clock operation regime, an official from the Chechen MIA has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "The enhanced security measures will be continued until the end of the New Year holidays," said the police officer.
