Abkhazia: presidential election totals cancelled

The Supreme Court (SC) of Abkhazia has upheld the complaint submitted by Alkhas Kvitsiniya, the leader of the "Amtsakhara" Party, and appointed presidential election in the republic.

The audience present in the courtroom welcomed the decision with applause.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the incumbent president Raul Khadjimba won the 2019 election by a slight margin: in the second round, he gained 47.39% of all the voters, while Alkhas Kvitsiniya gathered 46.97%. On January 9 and 10, 2020, SC sessions were held amid the capture by protesters of the presidential administration building.
