Chechen policemen force law breakers to sweep streets
Law enforcers forced residents of the Kurchaloi District, punished for driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication, to clean the mosque territory. One of the chiefs of the Kurchaloi ROVD (District Interior Division) called such violators "terrorists" and promised to seize their cars.
On January 15, officials of the Kurchaloi OVD (Interior Division) held a preventive warning conversation with a group of local residents detained for driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed today by the spokesman of the Chechen Ministry of Interior Affairs (MIA).
On the same day, a video record of the conversation was posted by the Instagram public account "ChP Chechnya". The video shows how more than ten men, with their heads down, are silently standing in front of the police chief. He is voicing reprimands in the Chechen language.
"I want to address those people who drink alcohol and, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, [hit a pedestrian], those people who cause harm to others. You are a terrorist, since you are hitting people with your car and killing them," said the top-ranking law enforcer as translated from Chechen by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The top-ranking police officer warned people of the punishment for driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication. "I swear to the Almighty Allah, I won't give up a car to a drunken man. I'll force a man detained in a state of alcoholic intoxication to clean the mosque," the police chief said. The video ends with footage in which men in ordinary urban clothing are sweeping the street and removing garbage near the mosque.
