Hundreds of protesters demand to reschedule election in Abkhazia
At an action held in front of the Abkhazian Cabinet of Ministers, about 400 people demanded the resignation of the government and the acting President of Abkhazia. The protestors insist that the presidential election should be rescheduled.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the re-election of the President of Abkhazia is scheduled for March 22.
Today, about 400 people have come to the building of the Abkhazian Cabinet of Ministers. The protesters demand the resignation of ministers, top-ranking officials from the law enforcement bodies, and the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), reports Adgur Chachba, who represents the interests of the protesters. They also seek the resignation of Valery Bganba, the acting President of Abkhazia, and the introduction of the parliamentary rule until the presidential election.
"We met acting President Valery Bganba and told him about our demands. We cannot observe the mass bribery of voters in the districts. We want a fair election, so we believe that it should not be held in late March," Adgur Chachba said.
