Prosecution demands eight years in jail for resident of Chechnya who complained of torture
Eida Arsanukhaev, a resident of Chechnya, accused of justifying terrorism and recruiting people into the ranks of militants, insists on his innocence. The check of his torture applications was conducted formally, the defence claims.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Eida Arsanukhaev's mother stated that he had been tortured in order to knock confessions out of him.
According to investigators, in July 2017, Arsanukhaev showed to his four acquaintances in his telephone a "video clip about the activities of the 'Islamic State' (IS)" (a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court), and "idealized the participants thereof."
Another time, Arsanukhaev invited his acquaintance to go to Syria and join the IS; and he asked another acquaintance if he was ready to become a mujahedeen.
Aslanbek Salatov, an advocate for Eida Arsanukhaev, has noted that the torture traces on Arsanukhaev's body had not been fixed. He has stated that the defence hopes for an acquittal.
