Two residents of Chechnya infected with coronavirus during Hajj

Coronavirus tests gave positive results for three Chechen residents who arrived home from Turkey. One of them, after returning from Mecca, did not comply with quarantine and arranged prayer meetings, stated Ramzan Kadyrov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chechen authorities declared the panic caused by coronavirus a more urgent problem, rather than the infection itself. In March, local residents were massively buying food. The increased demand led to higher prices, and Ramzan Kadyrov demanded from officials to fight the growth of prices. After that, law enforcers started conducting raids.

At a government meeting, Ramzan Kadyrov criticized one of the persons who committed Umrah, the so-called "small hajj" to Mecca. On the air of the "Grozny" TV Channel, the leader of Chechnya called on residents of the republic to take the threat of the coronavirus infection more seriously.

According to the leader of the region, death is a worthy punishment for infecting other people.

Religious gatherings threaten to infect worshipers because of non-compliance with the safe distance between them, scientists note. They support the decision of the European Muslim Forum to close all mosques in Europe.

The coronavirus infection is transmitted by airborne droplets, and a carrier can spread the infection without coughing, because even carrier's breathing is dangerous, says Professor Mikhail Kostinov.
