Tezekhan Miralamli charged with disorderly conduct
Tezekhan Miralamli, an employee of the opposition newspaper "Azadlyg" (Freedom), a member of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), is accused of disorderly conduct. He signed a recognizance not to leave the place. The journalist pleads not guilty.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Tezekhan Miralamli was suspected of disorderly conduct in March. The journalist said that a criminal case against him was instituted on a complaint of Ata Abdullaev, who introduced himself as a video blogger. According to Tezekhan Miralamli, the incident itself took place at a mass event on February 26. Ata Abdullaev used bad words when addressing the Popular Front of Azerbaijan. After Tezekhan Miralamli reproached him, Ata Abdullaev complained to the police and claimed that the journalist "had allegedly hit" him.
Tezekhan Miralamli told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on April 13, he was summoned to the Khatai District Police Department of Baku.
"I was presented with a resolution to involve me in a case as a defendant under Article 221.1 (disorderly conduct) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The resolution was based on the expert opinion that I had allegedly inflicted bodily harm to Ata Abdullaev. I wrote a protest against the expert opinion. I did not cause him any bodily harm. There is no material evidence of that," Tezekhan Miralamli claims.
