Seven PFPA activists arrested during quarantine

Over the past ten days, the number of arrested members of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan (PFPA) has reached seven. Ali Kerimli, the party leader, is deprived of the Internet and mobile communication, the party has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 15, Niyameddin Akhmedov, a PFPA activist, was detained and then arrested. The court found him guilty of violating the quarantine regime.

On April 17, two more party activists were detained – Islam Islamzade and Vugar Abilov. On the same day, Abilov was sentenced to 20 days of arrest on charges of disobedience to the police. Islamzade, who was found guilty by the court of violating the quarantine regime and disobeying the police, was arrested for 30 days today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the PFPA.

The party has specified that Islam Islamzade was detained after he brought a modem to the leader of the party Ali Kerimli, who was left without Internet and mobile communication.

"For the fifth day, Ali Kerimli, the PFPA leader, has his cellular and fixed telephony disconnected, as well as the Internet. An information blockade is used against the party chairman," says the PFPA's statement received by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on April 18.
