Georgian villagers prevent hospitalization of COVID-19 infected persons
An attempt to hospitalize ten residents of the quarantined village of Musevani of the Bolnisi District resulted in a villagers' clash with policemen and medics. The Bolnisi District accounts for 18.9% of all Georgia's coronavirus infected patients.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 23, the Marneuli and Bolnisi Districts of the Georgian Region of Kvemo Kartli were put under a strict quarantine regime. On April 22, farmers in the Marneuli District blocked the road in protest against the hard quarantine.
The video posted on May 1 on the YouTube channel of the "MarneuliFM" Community Radio, shows dozens of people blocking ambulances, shouting, whistling and kicking vehicles.
The incident occurred in the village of Mushevani, where strict quarantine was introduced on April 25. In the evening on May 1, villagers resisted the ambulance doctors, who had intended to transport those infected to hospital, but failed to do so. Resistance was also rendered to policemen, the "News-Georgia" has reported today.
According to Gogi Meshveliani, a Georgian MP from the Bolnisi District, relatives of those infected had initiated the incident; some of them were drunk.
