Chechen officials ignore quarantine rules on Mourning and Sorrow Day

In Chechnya, on the Day of Mourning and Sorrow of the Peoples of the Republic, subordinates of the leader of Chechnya visited his father's grave without wearing protective masks and without respecting social distancing. This can be concluded from the report broadcasted by the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen TV and Radio Company). In Chechnya, top-ranking officials do not comply with their own regulations, for violation of which ordinary people are punished, local residents note.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 10, the day when Akhmat Kadyrov was buried, Chechnya marks the Day of Mourning and Sorrow of the Peoples of the Republic.

On May 10, in its news programme, the "Grozny" ChGTRK broadcasted the report about the collective visit by the Chechen top-ranking officials to the grave of Akhmat Kadyrov in Akhmat-Yurt.

The footage of the video depicts several dozens of people, including Adam Delimkhanov, the advisor to the leader of Chechnya, Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, Salakh Mezhiev, Mufti of Chechnya, and others. They are voicing a dua (prayer) and then touching the grave of the former leader of the region, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Meanwhile, all participants of the event are standing next to each other without protective masks on their faces.

Today, the report of the "Grozny" ChGTRK has been also posted on the TV Channel's page on Instagram. In their comments, users of social networks criticized the top-ranking officials of Chechnya for the absence of protective masks on their faces and failure to keep social distancing.

"They walk in droves, and even more, they do not keep social distancing. Does the coronavirus not affect them?" wonders, in particular, user mamatata102020. "Why don't you wear masks? You oblige people to wear them. And if people do not wear masks, you fine violators," user msr52752 addresses the top-ranking officials in absentia as translated from the Chechen language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "And where are their masks? Or the masks are only for slaves? And apparently the coronavirus does not affect the masters?" wrote user xedadavdaeva ironically.
