Muftiate of Chechnya announces amounts of zakat and kaffarat donations during Ramadan
This year, the amount of alms to be given out by believers will amount to 100 roubles, and the amount of redemptive fee for violation of the fasting during the month of Ramadan will be 50 roubles, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya announces. Residents of the republic expressed their concern about the uncertainty of the celebration of the Eid al-Fitr holiday amid the quarantine.
"Zakat al-fitr, to be paid by a Muslim to mark the end of the month of Ramadan, is set at three kilograms of wheat or 100 roubles per person. Kaffarat amounts to one kilogram of wheat or 50 roubles," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed today by the spokesman for the Muftiate of Chechnya. He has added that the exact end date of the month of Ramadan will be announced next week.
This year, the donations of zakat al-fitr and kaffarat remain in Chechnya the same as in 2019.
Said-Akhmad, a resident of the republic, has expressed his concern about the upcoming celebration of the holiday of Eid al-Fitr amid the quarantine regime in force in Chechnya. "Everything is more or less clear with zakat and kaffarat, [the amounts of alms] have not changed. But it is not known whether the rules for the celebration of the Eid al-Fitr holiday will be changed because of the coronavirus infection spread and the current quarantine regime. My relatives live in Dagestan, and they say that the Muftiate of Dagestan urged people to celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Fitr at home. Our theologians still keep silence," Said-Akhmad told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
