Doctors treat girl's circumcision in Ingushetia as exceptional
Female circumcision is not a common practice in clinics of Dagestan and Ingushetia, but doctors can make such surgeries secretly, medics have commented on the story of the nine-year-old girl, who was circumcised in Ingushetia. The girl's reaction to circumcision should largely depend on how adults explained it to her, Akhmed Azizov, a sexologist is sure. "If a child grows up in a Muslim family; if she was told that this procedure brings her closer to Allah, then the harm will be minimal. If they failed to explain anything to her, it will be a serious psychological trauma," he said.
According to the professor, this procedure may not affect the girl's subsequent sexual life.
