Social media users compare Kadyrov's threats to wedding corteges with Russian laws

Cars cannot be seized from violators of wedding rules, there are fines for this, social network users have noted in response to an order of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to punish participants of long wedding corteges. Other users believe that strict measures are a must; otherwise the coronavirus epidemic will not end soon.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 25, the Mufti of Chechnya announced the lifting of the ban on marriage according to the norms of Islam, which had been introduced because of coronavirus. Mufti Mezhiev noted that crowded celebrations are prohibited. The head of Chechnya harshly criticized violators of the rules for organizing weddings and said that he had given instructions to take away their cars and sell them, directing the revenues to the needs of the public health service.

Some Instagram users have supported the decision of the head of the republic, while others questioned the legality of such measures.

"Apparently, Kadyrov has two main punishments: public apologies and car seizure," the user maks.gutman has remarked ironically.

In November 2019, the head of Chechnya was ridiculed on the Instagram for his motor cortege of 15 cars. For the sake of the corteges of Kadyrov and other officials, roads are blocked for a long time, local residents have indicated.
