Krasnodar residents complain about persistent campaign for early voting

Activists engaged in agitation campaign resort to persistent calls and promises in attempt to force people to vote for amendments to the Russian Constitution ahead of the schedule right in yards of their houses, residents of Krasnodar claim.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, set July 1, 2020, as the voting date on constitutional amendments.

The amendments are offending national sentiments and assume the power non-changeability, opponents to the amendments are sure.

Olga Borovskikh, a tenant of a house on Tyulyaev Street in Krasnodar, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the "manager of the house" visits apartments in the house and campaigns for voting ahead of the schedule for the amendments to the Russian Constitution.

"She said that some mobile team would be on duty in the yard of our house for several days. And we don't even have to go to a polling station, but may vote right in the yard. I thanked the manager of the house for the information, but she was not satisfied. She prepares lists and writes down in them when every block of our house should vote. She explained that in connection with the current restrictions [imposed because of coronavirus], people should come in turn for voting," Olga Borovskikh said.

The woman treats the above actions as coercion to the voting.

Gulnara Zaripova, a resident of the "Vostok" residential complex in Krasnodar, also told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that a member of the local territorial public self-administration was persistently campaigning for participation in the early voting to be organized in a yard of a house. "She calls us every evening and demands from us to definitely come and vote. She says an order of priority has been set up when certain blocks should vote. I told her that I want to go to a polling station, and she was very unhappy with my intention," said the woman from Krasnodar.
