Coronavirus diagnosed in 28 Georgian militaries in Afghanistan

The coronavirus was detected in the Georgian military servicemen, who were in Afghanistan within the "Strong Support" NATO's mission. They all returned to their homeland and are treated in hospital.

Georgia is actively seeking integration into NATO and regularly conducts exercises with its members. Meanwhile, over the years of participation in peacekeeping missions, over 30 Georgian military servicemen perished; while in 2017, maintaining the contingent cost 14 million roubles.

The Georgian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported that the militaries' state of health is satisfactory. Prior to sending back to Georgia, they were placed into isolation; therefore, there is no infection threat for other Georgian militaries.
