OSCE condemns military operations of Armenia and Azerbaijan
The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have condemned the ceasefire violations committed by Armenia and Azerbaijan. Baku cannot allow civilian objects and dwelling settlements in the area of the incident to be bombarded, an expert believes.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 13, three Armenian militaries were wounded during a shelling attack from the Azerbaijani side. The total number of victims of the shelling held on July 12 and 13 on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border amounted to 13 people.
On July 12, a fight broke out on the border of the Tovuz District of Azerbaijan and the Tavush Region of Armenia. By July 13, four Azerbaijani soldiers perished, and four others were wounded.
The EU has also called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to stop fighting, the "Turan" News Agency has reported.
Shelling of settlements where civilians live is unacceptable, said Novella Djafaroglu, a member of the Monitoring Group of Human Rights Organizations of Azerbaijan.
Armed incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border are not uncommon, but recent events cannot be called ordinary ones, Azad Isazade, a military expert, has noted.
In his opinion, the reason of the clashes was an Armenia's attempt to improve its positions. Moreover, according to Isazade, "the Armenian side has disproportionately large losses," and we can talk about dozens of dead and wounded.
However, the expert believes that the incident will not grow into large-scale military operations.
