Social network users criticize Chechen authorities for new house for Madina Umaeva's husband

The Chechen authorities have presented a new house to the family of Madina Umaeva, who died and was hastily buried in Gudermes. At the same time, the results of the examination of her body, exhumed after suspicions about the violent nature of her death, have not yet been announced, Instagram users have pointed out.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on June 12, Madina, a 23-year-old mother of three children, died in a house of her husband and his parents. In contradiction to Islamic traditions, the woman was buried at night. After social networks disseminated reports that the young woman had fallen victim to domestic violence, her mother succeeded in seeking exhumation of her daughter's body and attended the procedure. Without waiting for the results of the forensic examination, the leader of Chechnya met the mother and the husband of the deceased woman, as well as her other relatives. The mother of the deceased young woman apologized for the statement about the violent death of her daughter.

A report about the move of the family of Umaeva's husband into a new house, built at the direction of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, was shown on July 18 in the night news programme of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) and posted on the TV YouTube channel of the company. According to the report, the house was built for the funds of the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation.

Some social network commentators have approved the authorities' actions; others asked about the results of the medical examination, and many expressed their outrage that the house was gifted to Madina Umaeva's husband.

"We live OK – the woman died in their house for some unknown reason; and they have a new house built for that," the user z_museid_art was indignant.

Local residents told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they had not seen any publications about the results of the medical examination of Umaeva's body. "The society has not been presented with the conclusions of the examination carried out after the exhumation of Umaeva's body," said, in particular, Islam, an activist of a local NGO, suggesting that the case of Madina Umaeva's death was "simply hushed up."
