In Tbilisi, citizens of Belarus doubt Lukashenko's victory
The voting results for the candidates for Belarusian presidency, organized in Georgia, are more reliable than those announced by the republic's Central Election Commission (CEC), activists believe.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 13, activists in Tbilisi and Batumi called on the Georgian authorities not to recognize the outcomes of the presidential election in Belarus.
Many of the protesters were unable to travel to Belarus to vote at the election because of the quarantine, said Yulia Masyuta, a citizen of Belarus.
"In Belarus, people are beaten ... put in jail. We believe that a dictator shouldn't stay in power," said Irina, a designer from Minsk.
The political situation in Belarus has affected the living standards of the population, she said. "The average salary is USD 200; people haven't enough money," she said.
It became unbearable for ordinary people to live under the power established in Belarus; the situation has reached a boiling point, said Anna, a hairdresser from Minsk, who lives in Georgia.
"I have been living in Georgia for a year now; I had to leave Belarus because I was afraid for my freedom," Anna has added.
