HRC "Memorial" treats authorities responsible for bullying Chechen who sat down on bottle

The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has demanded from the police to find Salman Tepsurkaev, a resident of Chechnya, and conduct an investigation into the humiliation filmed on video.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Chechnya condemned the authors of the video, in which a naked man sits on a bottle as punishment for cooperating with the Telegram channel that criticizes the authorities. The authors of the 1ADAT channel have stated that the moderator of their chat was kidnapped and humiliated by law enforcers. The Chechen Ombudsperson's office has noted that neither the victim himself nor his relatives had turned to them.

It is "extremely naive" to expect a real inquiry from Chechen law enforcement bodies, said Oleg Orlov, a board member of the HRC "Memorial". However, he is confident that the perpetrators will sooner or later be punished.
