Tofig Yagublu has blood transfusion
The health condition of the Azerbaijani oppositionist Tofig Yagublu, who has been on a hunger strike for 15 days, has somewhat stabilized after a blood transfusion, his doctor has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 2, oppositionist Tofig Yagublu declared a hunger strike. On the other day, the court sentenced him to four years and three months of imprisonment. On September 12, Tofig Yagublu was transferred to a private clinic amid the threat of a coma. On September 16, his doctor, Professor Adil Geibulla, stated that Tofig's health had reached a critical state on the 15th day of his hunger strike, and it had been decided to make his blood transfusion.
On the 15th day of his hunger strike, Tofig Yagublu was severely exhausted. He lost body weight; and his blood test showed a deterioration of the state of his internal organs, Professor Adil Geibulla, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"Today, we made a blood and plasma transfusion to him. After that, his condition has stabilized somewhat. However, the hunger strike has entered the third week and continues threatening Yagublu's health and life. We hope that legal steps will be taken urgently and his freedom restriction measure will be changed; and he'll be released from custody," Mr Geibulla has concluded.
