Stepanakert residents report regular missile attacks

Because of frequent missile attacks, Stepanakert townspeople are afraid to leave their shelters for a long time; there are interruptions in communications and power supply in the city. As a result of the shelling, 23 civilians were killed, more than 90 others were wounded, the Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsperson has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 6, the press secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported that Azeri militaries once again launched missile attacks on Stepanakert. The offensive of the Azerbaijani Army was repulsed, Stepanakert officials have reported.

On October 5, a heavy shelling on Stepanakert destroyed apartment buildings and schools, an official from the Stepanakert Mayoralty has informed.

All the cities of Nagorno-Karabakh are shelled every day; people spend most of the time in shelters, the information headquarters has reported.

The shelling was especially terrible on October 5 and in the afternoon on October 6, the air raid alert sounded several times, said Marina Sirimyan, a local resident.

Benik Karayan, a pensioner, said that because of the shelling, their district and some others had no electric power supply and access to Internet; and mobile telephony was poorly working.

"Because of the shelling, we spend all day and night in a shelter. We cannot go anywhere for a long time or move far away, because we don't know when the air-raid siren will sound again," he said.
