Azerbaijan reports new battles on frontline

Despite the announced ceasefire, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone remains tense; the Azerbaijani militaries have stopped an offensive operation in two directions, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the fighting in the conflict zone began on September 27, and at midday on October 10, a ceasefire agreement in the conflict zone entered into force. However, the parties continued accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.

"The units of the Armenian Armed Forces that fail to observe the humanitarian ceasefire regime have made several attempts to attack the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in small groups in the Agdere-Agdam and Fizuli-Djebrail directions in order to regain their lost positions," says the press release of the Azerbaijani MoD, translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Besides, as a result of hostilities in different sections of the frontline, "a large amount of enemy's manpower" was destroyed, and three BM-21 "Grad" multiple launch missile systems, one T-72 tank and several vehicles were put out of action, the press-release has stated.

So far, the MoDs of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia have not commented on the Azerbaijani statement on their websites.
