Azerbaijan treats video about execution of prisoners of war as fake

Armenian authorities possess video and photo proofs of the brutal massacre of Armenian prisoners of war, the Armenian Ombudsperson has stated. The video clip is staged and spread in social networks in order to attract attention of the international community, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 10, an agreement on ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but the parties to the conflict continued to report about battles and shelling attacks.

A video clip with footage of capturing two Armenian soldiers was spread on October 15 by Telegram channels. It shows that two people in camouflage uniforms – one young and the other elderly, with a gray beard – were taken prisoners of war. It shows that they grab the elder one by his jacket and threw him to the ground, while the young man is forced to take off his outer clothing, after which they both are put on the parapet, wrapped in Armenian flags and shot for a long time.

"The videos and photos are irrefutable facts of war crimes, which we'll send to international structures tomorrow (October 16) morning with all the necessary descriptions," Arman Tatoyan, the Armenian Ombudsperson, wrote on October 15 in his Facebook page.

Fake videos that have nothing to do with Azerbaijan have been circulated in social networks, the Azerbaijani MoD has stated. "These video clips had been staged ... in order to attract the attention of the international community" and have nothing to do with the hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone, reads a press release of the MoD, which was translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
