In Yerevan, activists request UN to force Azerbaijan to ceasefire

Participants of a protest action held in front of the UN office in Yerevan criticized the international organization for being passive concerning the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. The UN ignores the use of prohibited weapons and military support for Azerbaijan from Turkey, protesters claim.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 10, an agreement on ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but the parties to the conflict continued to report about battles and shelling attacks.

Today, activists have gathered in front of the UN office in Yerevan with the demand to comment on the data on Turkish military personnel on the border with Nagorno-Karabakh.

"They are shooting at our towns and villages. The UN must do everything to withdraw Turkey from our borders and force Azerbaijan to stop the fighting in Artsakh," Amaras Megrabyan, a participant of the protest action, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the organizers of the action, about 30 people took part in the protest. They were chanting: "Recognize Artsakh!", "Free independent Artsakh", "Erdogan is a terrorist", and "Stop terrorism!".

"The Armenian people single-handedly fight against the terrorist mercenaries. The whole world keeps silence. Leave aside all your political interests and stop the terror against the Armenian people. Today, another genocide of the Armenian people of the 21st century is taking place," one of the activists told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The UN Security Council must make a decision that will force Azerbaijan to stop the war, emphasized Vardan Avetisyan, a participant of the protest action.
