Native of Chechnya detained in France for placing "Like" to photo of decapitated teacher
The police have detained and placed in custody a 22-year-old Chechen man as part of an investigation into the crime committed in the city of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, where the school teacher, Samuel Paty, was assassinated. According to French law enforcers, the detainee had put a "Like" to the post with a photo of the beheaded teacher.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 16, Samuel Paty, a teacher of history and geography, was beheaded in a Paris suburb. At a lesson on the freedom of speech, the teacher had shown caricatures on Prophet Muhammad from the "Charlie Hebdo" magazine to his pupils. The alleged killer was shot dead by policemen and identified as Abdulak Anzorov, 18, a Russian citizen of Chechen origin.
The operation to detain the above native of Chechnya was conducted on October 25 in the city of Blois.
According to the police, he is suspected of promoting terrorism. Investigators have established that he had put a "Like" a terrorist's post on the Twitter, when the latter had posted photos of the teacher beheaded by him.
"During a search in his home, law enforcers found a large number of weapons, cartridges and knives, as well as computer equipment. During his detention, the man challenged his links with radicals," the TV channel said in its statement.
