Armenian officers arrested within case of soldiers' deaths in Nagorno-Karabakh

Cases have been initiated on violations of the conditions of the military service and unjustified deaths of Armenian militaries in Nagorno-Karabakh; there are already arrested officers, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, has stated that on September 27, about 2400 Armenian soldiers perished, and hundreds others were missing. Authorities are silent about the missing soldiers, protesters outside the Armenian MoD have stated.

On November 14, the Armenia Ministry of Public Health (MPH) reported about 2317 bodies of dead soldiers, which had undergone medical examination. The MPH has specified that the losses will be updated after the end of exchanging bodies with the Azerbaijani party. Hundreds of bodies remain in the battlefields, said Araik Arutyunyan, the Nagorno-Karabakh President.

The data on the number of missing soldiers is constantly changing, the MoD has noted. Now, Armenia is waiting for the Azerbaijan's permission to enter the Gadrut, Kubatli and Djebrail Districts to take the bodies of the dead out.
