Ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh reports about 60 dead civilians

During the escalation of the Karabakh conflict, 60 civilians of the unrecognized republic were killed, and 163 others were injured, Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan reports. During the combat actions, about 45,000 residents of the region were left homeless, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh report.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 7, Artak Beglaryan, Ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh, announced that during the escalation of the Karabakh conflict, 49 civilians were killed, and 157 people were injured. According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh, as of November 9, 1221 soldiers were killed.

The Office of the Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsman has collected new data, according to which the number of civilians who died during the aggravation of the Karabakh conflict reached 60 people. Of them, 39 residents were killed in shelling attacks, and other 21 were captured and killed or found themselves in the territories controlled by Azerbaijan, announced Artak Beglaryan, Ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Ombudsman's Office has information about 40 disappeared civilians of Nagorno-Karabakh, Artak Beglaryan reports. The Ombudsman has also added that some of the above-mentioned civilians are presumably dead. "There is some specific information concerning some of the disappeared civilians: they were captured and are being kept in an Azerbaijani prison, while the information concerning others is to be updated," the Ombudsman said.

The number of injured residents of Nagorno-Karabakh reaches at least 163 people, the "News.am" quotes today Artak Beglaryan as reporting.

During the combat actions, about 45,000 residents of the unrecognized republic were left homeless, reports Grigory Martirosyan, State Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh. "The above number includes those who lost shelter as a result of shelling attacks, and those who lost their houses due to the transfer of a number of territories of Nagorno-Karabakh under the control of Azerbaijan. Most of those people stay in Armenia now," said Grigory Martirosyan as quoted by the "Sputnik Armenia" today.
