Social network users ridicule awarding name of Kadyrov's son to sports complex

The opening of the sports complex named after Akhmat Kadyrov in the village of Bachi-Yurt reminds of the realities of North Korea, social network commentators have pointed out, noting that the minor son of the head of Chechnya has no significant sporting achievements.

On December 25, the Chechen Ministry of Sports reported on the solemn opening of a physical culture and sports complex in the village of Bachi-Yurt.

"It is noteworthy that the complex will bear the name of the grandson of the first president of the Chechen Republic, Akhmat Ramzanovich Kadyrov," the Ministry's website has reported.

Facebook users have mockingly commented on the awarding the name of Akhmat Kadyrov Junior to the sports complex. "I wonder if Akhmat has real friends, apart of those bought for dad's money," Andrei Ponomarenko has written.

An Instagram user, toma.musakaeva, has doubted that Kadyrov's son had enough merits for the sports complex to be named after him.

The oppositional Telegram channel "1Adat" has described the naming of the sports complex in Bachi-Yurt as "something new in Kadyrov's Chechnya."

Let us note here that the personality of the father of the current Chechen leader is constantly present in republic's everyday life: for example, flags with portraits of Akhmat Kadyrov are used at various mass events.
