Declaring blood feud against Ingush teips is contrary to Chechen traditions

Relatives of the deceased policeman, Magomed Djabrailov, have no reason to declare a blood feud, since both attackers were killed, Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, has stated. The teip of the surviving policeman has announced only a quarrel, which cannot be treated as a blood feud, Zaurbek Sadakhanov, a lawyer, has noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 1, relatives of the wounded policeman, teip Ersno, declared enmity with the Ingush teips of Timurziev and Sultygov.

"For the crime committed by the killed persons, their relatives cannot be held responsible, according to Islam, this is the way it is," Mr Kutaev has explained. According to his version, in such cases, relatives of those killers usually come to an agreement with the injured party.

Ruslan Kutaev has added that the side of the attacker also has the right to move claims if he was killed.

Zaurbek Sadakhanov, a lawyer, also believes that in this case the declaration of a blood feud is against traditions. He has recalled that according to the Russian law, a murder motivated by a blood feud is a grave crime.

At the same time, he has noted that reconciliation of blood feudists is a difficult process. According to Chechen customs, even if the murder perpetrator is forgiven, he can't have fun and lead a normal lifestyle until the end of his life.
