Ingush Council of Teips expresses condolences to family of policeman killed in Chechnya

The Ingush Council of Teips (family clans) expressed the condolences to relatives of Chechen policeman Magomed Djabrailov, who was killed in Grozny. It was also noted that the incident was being used to stir up ethnic hatred. The above statement was made after the threats voiced by Chechen MP Magomed Khanbiev against Sarazhdin Sultygov, a member of the Ingush teip.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 28, in Grozny two men were shot dead in an attack on policemen; one of whom, Magomed Djabrailov, died. The attackers were the Timurziev brothers, natives of Ingushetia. Relatives of the deceased policeman declared a blood feud to the brothers' relatives.

The announcement of the blood feud was preceded by a video message posted by Timurzievs and Sultygovs demanding to prove that the killed were terrorists. Later, members of the Timurziev and Sultygov teips posted their second video message, where they admitted they had been wrong and expressed their condolences to the family of the perished policeman.

The Ingush Council of Teips made a statement regarding the incident that occurred in Grozny on December 28, 2020. Authors of the statement expressed their condolences to the family of the killed policeman and wished his injured colleague a speedy recovery.

"Unfortunately, certain destructive forces are trying to use this tragic incident to stir up ethnic hatred. We believe that the Ingush and Chechen peoples will not succumb to such provocations. The Council of Teips of the Republic of Ingushetia suggests that the Timurziev and Sultygov teips should settle the situation with the teips of Dyshniy and Ersenoi based on the Sharia and Vainakh traditions," the Ingush Council of Teips emphasizes in the statement posted on its Facebook page on January 4.

Earlier, Chechen MP Magomed Khanbiev has recorded a video message in which he threatened Sarazhdin Sultygov, a member of the Ingush teip.

"Everything that you have said and will continue to say, I take as affecting personally me and my teip [...] From this day on, the Beno teip will hold you responsible for your every word. If (Ramzan Kadyrov) permits, we will immediately bring you to responsibility for your words," Magomed Khanbiev wrote on his Instagram page five days ago as translated from the Chechen language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
