In Armenia, 26 people detained after a rally demanding Pashinyan's resignation

Opponents of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not manage to break into the building of the Armenian government. Twenty-six activists were brought to police stations.

Today, participants of the protest action with the demand of Nikol Pashinyan's resignation have tried to break through the police cordon in front of the government building. Among the detainees was Arshak Zakaryan, the leader of the NGO "Armenian National Guard".

Tigran Chobanyan, one of the organizers of the rally, admitted that not many people came to the protest action. According to his version, the people "lost faith." However, Tigran Chobanyan notes that the activists are planning new protests by mid-February.

In January, political analysts suggested that the opposition in Armenia was not strong enough to force Nikol Pashinyan to resign, and many disagreements arose among oppositionists during the discussion of the early parliamentary elections.
